Closing the Commission

Final Files

  • As part of every commission, I send through three versions of the final portrait for your convenience.

    • The full resolution PNG file

    • A half resolution PNG file

    • A low resolution JPG file

I do this to offer you maximum flexibility for printing and sharing the portrait. Often the file size of the full resolution image is too large for most online printing services, so the half resolution is more convenient to have.

These files are uploaded to Google Drive and shared with you via a link. I highly recommend downloading them as soon as you can and storing them somewhere safe. However, the commission link will remain viable for one (1) full year after the commission is closed.

  • ‘How big should I print my portrait?’

I give recommendations for sizes on each of my portrait types, and also have a handy printing size guide HERE (opens in new tab).

    -

‘Do you have any recommendations on how to get my portrait printed/who to print through?’

Unfortunately I can’t offer recommendations on a global scale, so I suggest looking into the best printing options for you and your budget before you order a commission.

Some pieces (such as the Classical Studies) may print far too dark if a low quality printer is used. I try to offset this as much as I can, but I cannot account for every printer (and screen calibration) out there!

Some print shops may be willing to offer advice or image adjustments to ensure a final image prints beautifully, and I have no issue with these tweaks being made when needed.

If you really struggle when you come to print your piece please do get in touch and I’ll help however I can.

    -

‘What should I have the portrait printed on?’

Anything you like! In the past people have had their portraits printed on everything from glass blocks to blankets to jigsaw puzzles (amazing idea)!

More traditional canvas prints or framed paper prints are ultimately what my portraits are designed for, but the digital format means you can have a portrait printed as many times as you like in whatever format you choose.

Just be aware of the size of the portrait type you choose, as this may limit your options in some cases.

    -
’Can you print the portrait for me and send it to me?’

Unfortunately not. I don’t have a reliable printer that I trust, and the price and logistics of global shipping from New Zealand is simply not sustainable for me.

Follow-Up Feedback

  • My favourite types of email to receive are follow up emails!

I absolutely love to see portraits in their new homes, so if you get the chance to snap a photo once you get the portrait printed, please do share them with me.

You can also see some of the previous photos I’ve been sent over on the Feedback Page.

  • I rely only on word of mouth and Twitter to bring in new clients, so anything you can do to help out is greatly appreciated!

If you share your printed portrait over on Twitter, feel free to tag me (@chloecarterarts) - I’d love to see them.

Aside from that, just showing off your new art to friends and family is a great help. I couldn’t do what I do without your support, and new clients are always welcome!

Future Commissions

  • Please do keep me in mind as your furry family shrinks and grows - I always love to see familiar names in my inbox.

While filling in order forms is the easiest way to contact me for another commission, you can also get in touch directly through email if we’ve worked together before.

  • If you’ve previously ordered a commission from me, I offer a slight (10%) discount on all future commissions to say thanks!
